🎆 Pennsylvania State Fireworks Laws

Under Pennsylvania’s Act 74 of 2022, residents aged 18 and older may purchase and use certain consumer-grade fireworks, including firecrackers, Roman candles, and bottle rockets. However, there are specific restrictions:

  • Prohibited Areas: Fireworks cannot be ignited or discharged on public or private property without the express permission of the property owner.

  • Safety Distances: They must not be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure, whether or not a person is present.

  • Direction of Discharge: Fireworks cannot be directed at another person, vehicle, or building.

  • Time Restrictions: Municipalities may restrict the use of consumer fireworks between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m., except on July 2, 3, 4, and December 31, when they may be used until 1 a.m.

    • If July 4 falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday they may be used until 1 a.m. on the immediately preceding and following Friday and Saturday
  • Substance Restrictions: Fireworks cannot be discharged while the user is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug.
